If you love barbecue chicken pizza, you'll love these barbecue chicken calzones! Ready in less than 30 minutes, they're stuffed with bbq chicken, bacon, cheese, and baked to perfection. And did we mention they are super kid-friendly?
BBQ Chicken Pizza is one of our favorite meals, so we took all the deliciousness and wrapped it in a calzone to make it even more kid-friendly!
These Barbecue Chicken Calzones are a perfect meal for those crazy nights when there isn’t much time to cook. They only take 30 minutes to throw together from start to finish.
They’re so easy to make – plus, you can have your kids join in on the fun (and then maybe they’ll be more likely to eat them, right?).We love that calzones are the perfect size for little hands – and dippable (which is always a win in our family). Our favorite BBQ Sauces:
One of our most-asked questions is what BBQ Sauce we love to use with these. We love Stubbs (this isn’t sponsored, it’s just a favorite). It’s a much healthier option with only 25 calories per two tablespoons, and only 4 grams of sugar per serving.

How to make barbecue chicken calzones:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.Fry the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crisp (you can also use bacon bits or pre-cooked bacon if you’re in a hurry). Remove bacon from pan, blot with paper towels and crumble.
Add onion and shredded chicken to a pan with olive oil. Saute over medium heat until onion is tender.Stir in 1/2 cup barbecue sauce and remove from heat.Mix in crumbled bacon.
Flatten out biscuit dough on a greased cookie sheet.Spread a teaspoon of barbecue sauce on each biscuit.
Divide the chicken mixture between the biscuits, spreading on only half of each biscuit and keeping 1/2 inch away from the edge.
Sprinkle cheese and cilantro over top of each biscuit.Fold biscuits in half and press the edges together with a fork to seal (this is a great step that the kids can help with, too!).
Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown.Serve with additional barbecue sauce for dipping.

Just made it - so awesome!! If you aren't so focused on eating healthy, adding a little brown sugar made the sauce sooooo good!

This came up in the menu plan this week. One of the steps is to add onion to the pan, but I don't see onions listed in the ingredients. How much and what type of onions do you use?
-
Cyd says:
Do you get the Standard Plan? Onion is listed. It's 1/2 cup red onion (diced).

Hailey says:
Can you freeze these? If so, how would you do it?
