Chocolate Reindeer Poop
Okay, okay, so it’s just chocolate mousse – but how fun to call it Chocolate Reindeer Poop right? I know my niece and nephew get a kick out of such silliness!
I remember making chocolate mousse in school Home Economics lessons and it was so easy to do and tasted so much better than the stuff you can buy in stores.
If I could make mousse successfully at the age of 13, I’m pretty sure you will be able to, too!
Ingredients used in this recipe

- Heavy Cream/Double Cream, Sugar, Eggs
- Chocolate Chips – Dark, Milk, or Semi-Sweet, depending on your preference.
- Whipped Cream and Maraschino Cherries (for decorating, optional)
This recipe contains raw eggs so bear that in mind if this is a concern for you.
However, using the freshest eggs, practicing good food hygiene, and depending on your country’s food supply chain, means the risk of contracting salmonella is likely to be minimal.

Ingredients
- 2½ cups heavy cream/double cream, divided
- 8 oz. high-quality dark, milk, or semi-sweet chocolate chips or baking chocolate
- ¼ ccup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- Whipped cream (for decoration, optional)
- Maraschino cherries (for decoration, optional)
Instructions
- Heat 1 cup of cream with chocolate chips over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until chips have melted. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, beat eggs and sugar with a hand-held mixer at medium speed for 3-minutes.
- While mixing on the same setting as above, slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture. Once combined, pour back into the pan used to melt the chocolate. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Remove from heat and cool slightly before transferring to the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours.
- Once chilled, whip the remaining heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the chilled chocolate into the whipped cream until thoroughly combined. The mixture should have a fluffy consistency.
- Spoon chocolate mousse into a piping bag and pipe into small dessert cups/shot glasses/dishes.
- Top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries if desired. Enjoy!
